The Standard for Enterprise messaging
Short Codes are a commonly used Business SMS communication tool. They are intended to be:
- Reliable
- High volume
- Developed for Application to Peer (A2P)
Shared Short Code
Shared Short Codes are shared by many brands or partners to reduce the cost of creating a dedicated code for one campaign.
Because they are already provisioned with the mobile operators, they are instantly available for service.
For most use cases, if you are looking for smaller volume messaging and time to market is a concern, this is the route for you.
If you go this route, Voxox does the heavy lifting for you!
- Voxox maintains HELP & STOP messages
- Voxox maintains block list (users who have sent STOP to opt-out)
- Voxox will review campaigns and whitelist content for you
- Little to no development needed!
Toll Free SMS is also a good option if you are looking at shared codes to deliver SMS. They offer the same reliable delivery while also providing opportunities for continuity of brand and service by being Voice enabled. Toll Free SMS is an accepted solution for A2P messaging.
10DLC (10 Digit Long Code) is a new product that is coming to the market soon (as of mid 2019, still a bit of a moving target) Soon, you will be able to reliably send A2P appointment reminders, notifications, service notices, etc. using the same Local Phone Number that your business already uses.
Dedicated Short Code
Setting up a new Dedicated Short Code is the best solution for your business or customer that needs full control over their code.
- Partner responsible for HELP messaging
- Partner responsible for STOP message and compliance
- Partner responsible for maintaining block list of opt-out users
- Partner has full control over all aspects of the code
How do I setup a new code?
First, don't hesitate to contact us. The steps we will walk you through are below for your reference and we are here to help demystify them!
- Go find the perfect code for your business at the CSCA (usshortcodes.com) A code will cost $500 a month for a random or $1000 for a vanity code
- Send a current copy of the CSCA Lease Receipt to Voxox
- We will help you fill out a Campaign Brief. Here is a sample of the questions that the Mobile Operators will require you to answer. Ultimately, AT&T, Verizon, TMobile, Sprint, etc. must approve the new code. The more thorough the answers, the better chance you have to be approved. Details ensure your campaign will not be rejected for something minor
- Be prepared to provide published Terms and Conditions as well as Privacy Policy links that inform your users how your opt-in campaign is managed. Example T&C content:
- Program (brand) identification (Eg. Voxox)
- Product or Campaign description (Text Promo to xxxxx for 50% off you next appetizer)
- "Message and data rates may apply" Disclosure
- Note for T-Mobile compliance "T-Mobile is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages"
- Customer support contact information
Can I migrate an existing code?
Yes, just like your mobile phone number, a short code can be moved between providers. Its your code.
- Send a current copy of the CSCA Lease Receipt to Voxox
- Migration Letter: A statement written on your company letterhead saying that you authorize the migration of your short code to Voxox. The letter must be signed by a manager or executive (VP level or higher), and the company name must match the Content Provider of record in the CSCA system. This will provide Voxox the authorization to begin the campaign registration process
From here, Voxox will work with your team and the Operators to ensure that you have no interruption in service.
