"Our messages were blocked by carriers without our knowing and we started
seeing our CTR (Click Through Rate) decrease. Why?"
Review your content to ensure that your messages are unique
- Do use unique URL Shorteners (do not use bit.ly, goo.gl, etc.)
- Do not use obscure TLD's (.im .ws .do .pw etc...)
- Do not send illegal content
- Do send messages your customers have opted in to receiving
- Do send variations on the same message (use 10 versions versus just 1)
TL;DR Here are our guidelines
No more than 10 per minute, 20 per hour. Maximum of 200 per day
- 10 messages per minute, per number
- 50 messages an hour, per number
- 200 messages a day, per number
Messages Per Day (8 hour day) | Long Code Numbers Required |
10k per day | 100 Numbers |
50k per day | 300 Numbers |
100k per day | 600 Numbers |
500k per day | 3,000 Numbers |
5MM per day | 30,000 Numbers |
10MM per day | 60,000 Numbers |
Final notes
- These are approximations, as every carrier has different policies
- If a higher throughput is needed, we recommend using a pool of numbers big enough to maintain the traffic per number under the soft limits mentioned above
- If using a pool of numbers is not an option, we suggest setting up a short code if the content follows the guidelines here
